Navigator Research Program Overview
Our mission at HSC is to improve the quality of life for those affected by Huntington disease. One of the ways that we address our mission is by investing in promising research.
The Navigator Research Program has been providing funding to support HD researchers since 2003 with awards up to $75,000/year for 1-2 years.

HSC Funds a New Navigator Research Project: HSC has awarded the Navigator Award to Dr. Shaun Sanders (University of Guelph – lead investigator), Dr. Melanie Alpaugh (University of Guelph – co-investigator), and Dr. Dale Martin (University of Waterloo – co-investigator). The title of their research project is DLK as a novel therapeutic target to treat Huntington disease.
DLK activates death signals in HD; however, no studies have investigated if stopping the action of DLK could be beneficial in HD. The HSC Navigator Award funding ($75,000 per year for two years) provides the opportunity to do so.
