I am incredibly fortunate to have a very bright, incredibly engaging 3 year old, in my life. The simple and honest brilliance that she expresses never ceases to amaze me.
Recently, during one of our regular Skyping sessions, I happened to ask “Little Miss” how her day at school went.
“Well”, she proceeds to calmly tell me, “Libby wasn’t very kind to me today.” I probed a little further to ask why? “I am not sure; I think she just wanted to be alone.” she replied. I took it a step further to ask her how she handled that. “I let her be. She just wanted to play by herself.”
Clearly Libby not being very kind to Little Miss, was Libby’s issue. Little Miss didn’t need to own it because it wasn’t about her.
We should all be so wise regarding the way we deal with others at work, school or play.
