Legislation needs to catch up to genetic science

Every Canadian has dozens of genetic mutations that could affect the chance of developing disease — and put them at risk for genetic discrimination, warns an advocacy group seeking government protection.

“The average person is not aware that their genetic information can be used against them,” said Bev Heim-Myers, chair of the Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness.
