A Word From Our CEO

I am living in the moment! We have escaped winter for a brief reprieve from the cold and as my 4 year old, granddaughter just reminded us, “There are no ‘snowfalls’ here”.
Flying here was interesting with the paraphernalia that comes along when travelling with three little people. Strollers, car seats, baby food etc. It is an interesting exercise in organization, strength and remembering, at every little stop, not to leave anything behind.
We arrived safely and, as the family settled in, my husband and I headed to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Tired and hungry, I was mesmerized by the stellar packing job the young “16 years oldish” gentleman was doing. He was incredibly fast, efficient and careful with our purchases. He ensured that heavy was on the bottom and more fragile was on top. All the time with an inviting smile, and, when finished he kindly turned and said “I would be pleased to help you to the car with your groceries”. We declined the offer but I was struck by the incredible, genuine, customer service experience we had. The following day I overheard a young lady walking a customer with their groceries to their car. She appropriately paced herself to not hurry her customer and carried on a very engaging conversation on-route to the car. These young people were not just doing a job, they were doing a great job. Their customer centric approach played a major role in the whole excellent customer service experience. Far more than grocery baggers, they were ambassadors extraordinaire.
The experience reminded me that no matter what the organization, or the job, we can all make or break a great customer experience. At HSC we strive to serve the HD Community, on many levels, in the best way that we can. If we fall short, do not hesitate to let us know. We will do better.
Before I sign off it would be remiss not to wish our Irish friends and associates a happy St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoy!
